Buffering is frustrating, but it is almost always fixable. In the vast majority of cases the cause is your connection or your local network, not the service. Here is how to track it down.

Check your internet speed first

Run a speed test on the device you stream from. If you are seeing less than 15 Mbps, HD streams will struggle. For 4K you want 25 Mbps or more. If the numbers are low, that is your answer — talk to your internet provider or reduce demand on the network.

Improve your Wi-Fi or go wired

Wi-Fi is convenient but less stable than a cable, especially at a distance from the router. Try these in order:

  • Move your device closer to the router, or move the router to a more central spot
  • Switch to the 5 GHz band if your router offers it
  • Reduce interference from other devices and appliances
  • Use an Ethernet cable or powerline adapter for the most stable connection

Update and restart

An outdated player app or device firmware can cause playback issues. Check for updates on both. A simple restart of your device and your router clears many temporary problems — unplug the router for thirty seconds, then plug it back in.

When to contact support

If your speed is good, your connection is wired, and everything is updated, but a specific channel still freezes, contact support. A single problematic channel is usually a server-side issue that the provider can resolve quickly.
